01 — Founder’s Message
A Personal Note From the Founder.
My name is Alton J. Duderstadt II, and like many people who eventually find themselves in Costa Rica, I didn’t arrive here by accident.
I arrived after years of work, pressure, burnout, searching, questioning, rebuilding, and trying to figure out what kind of life I actually wanted to live.
Before Costa Rica, my background was in digital marketing, business strategy, and search intelligence. I spent more than two decades helping businesses understand behavior, identify patterns, and make smarter decisions using data, systems, and real-world analysis.
Over time, I realized something fascinating: relocation works the exact same way.
Most people think moving to Costa Rica is simply a financial or lifestyle decision. It’s not. It’s a systems decision. An emotional decision. A behavioral, relationship, climate, pace-of-life, and psychological adaptation decision.
And most people are wildly underprepared for that reality. Prior to deciding to move to Costa Rica from Chicago, I did my very best to piecemeal information from blogs, videos, and online forums. None of which provided me the most important information of all: was I truly a good candidate to move in the first place?
I later realized that there was no system in place to help families, couples, and individuals with the decision-making process. Tons of information existed, but none that matched the individual needs, desires, and financial situations, and none that generated custom reporting unique to each individual’s situation.
That’s why I built Costa Rica Life Report. Not to sell paradise — but to help people think clearly before making one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
